How Steam levels and XP work
Your Steam level is driven by experience points (XP). Steam charges a fixed amount of XP per level, and that cost steps up every 10 levels. Levels 1 to 10 cost 100 XP each, levels 11 to 20 cost 200 XP each, levels 21 to 30 cost 300 XP each, and so on. In other words, the XP needed for a level equals its tier (each block of 10 levels) times 100.
The main source of XP is crafting badges. Turning a complete set of a game’s Steam trading cards into a badge is always worth exactly 100 XP, so the number of card sets you need is simply the XP you need divided by 100. That is the math this Steam level calculator runs for you.

How to level up your Steam account faster
Craft badges from trading card sets
The core of Steam leveling. A full set of a game's trading cards crafts into a badge worth 100 XP. You can craft most badges up to level 5, and each craft is another 100 XP.
Collect card drops while you play or idle
Games with Steam trading card support drop cards as you accumulate playtime. Idling your owned games farms the free half of each set so you only buy the rest.
