How Steam Market fees work
Every sale on the Steam Community Market carries two fees: a fixed 5% Steam transaction fee and a game (publisher) fee. For Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Rust, and most titles the game fee is 10%, so sellers lose roughly 15% of the listing price in total.
The important detail is that Steam calculates both fees on the amount the seller receives, not on the buyer’s price, and each fee is floored with a 1-cent minimum. That rounding is why the effective percentage wobbles slightly on small items and why a naive “price times 0.85” estimate is often a cent or two off. This calculator reproduces Steam’s exact steps.

- How much is the Steam Market fee?
- Steam charges a 5% transaction fee plus a game (publisher) fee on every Community Market sale. For CS2, Dota 2, TF2, Rust, and most games the game fee is 10%, so the total is about 15% of the listing price. Steam trading cards and other community items only pay the 5% Steam fee.
- Why do I receive less than the listing price?
- The price a buyer pays includes the fees. Steam works backwards from the amount you receive: it takes 5% for itself and the game fee for the publisher, each rounded with a 1-cent minimum. What is left over is what lands in your wallet.
- How do I price an item to receive a specific amount?

- Do Steam trading cards have the 15% fee?
