Where the account creation date comes from

Every Steam account stores a timecreated timestamp - the moment the account was registered. Steam exposes it through its public Web API for profiles set to public, and that is exactly the value this calculator reads to work out the age. Nothing is guessed or estimated.

If a profile is private or friends-only, Steam hides the creation date, so the age cannot be shown. Switching the profile’s privacy to public in Steam settings makes it readable again. The tool never needs you to log in and never changes anything on the account.

Steam Years of Service badge

The Years of Service badge is a profile badge tied directly to account age. It upgrades one level every year - a one-year account shows a level 1 badge, a ten-year account a level 10 badge, and so on. Each upgrade also grants Steam XP.

Because those anniversaries feed your Steam level, an old account has a head start. You can see how much further badge crafting would take you with the Steam level calculator.

FAQ

How do I find out how old my Steam account is?
Paste your Steam profile URL, vanity name, or Steam ID into the account age tool. It reads the account creation date (timecreated) from the Steam Web API and shows the exact age in years, months, and days.
Why can't the tool see my account creation date?
Steam only shares the creation date for public profiles. If a profile is set to private or friends-only, the creation date is hidden and the age cannot be calculated. Set the profile to public and try again.
What is the Steam Years of Service badge?
It is a profile badge that reflects how long your account has existed. Steam upgrades it once per year, and every upgrade grants Steam XP that counts toward your Steam level.
Can I check the age of someone else's Steam account?
Yes, as long as their profile is public. Enter their profile URL or Steam ID and the tool shows their account age and member-since date.
Is the Steam account age checker free?
Yes. It is free, needs no HourlyBoost account, and never asks you to log in to Steam.
